Tom Tull, MBA, FACHE - Chief Experience Officer, Ballad Health

Thomas Tull, FACHE, CPXP, VP and Chief Experience Officer, Ballad Health. Tom provides system leadership for experience activities for patients/families, team members, and physicians. Tom has been a member of the Board of Examiners for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and the Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence and served as an examiner trainer for the Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence and the State of Virginia Quality Award. He is a parttime faculty member at East Tennessee State University. Tull is a fellow of the Advisory Board and the American College of Healthcare Executives, a certified Patient Experience Professional, and a certified Crucial Conversations and Crucial Accountability Trainer.

Eric Deaton, MBA, FACHE – Chief Operating Officer – Ballad Health

 

Eric Deaton is a healthcare executive with 35+ years of experience in steering the strategic vision and direction of multimillion-dollar, multi-facility operations. He is best known for expertise in operations startups, turnarounds and transformations, guiding organizations to win coveted awards and generate strong bottom-line results. While growth and financial stability are important to Eric, he is equally dedicated to the patient experience and service quality. He constantly identifies areas for improvement in process execution, program development and service delivery. Eric keeps a pulse on industry trends, regulations and best practices, integrating new solutions to optimize efficiencies, costs and quality. He also embeds progressive cultural change to bring out the best in teams, especially during periods of large-scale transition such as mergers, integrations and reorganizations.

 

Intuitive and collaborative by nature, relationship building as a servant leader is one of Eric’s greatest strengths. From physicians and administrative staff to trustees and civic leaders, he forms mutually beneficial internal and external alliances to give healthcare organizations a competitive edge. At the executive level the ability to gain buy-in for strategic initiatives and galvanize people around a business vision is essential.

 

Eric holds a Master of Business Administration from Bristol University, a Master of Healthcare Administration from the University of Cincinnati and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Accounting from Milligan College. He also completed a Healthcare Advisory Board Fellowship in 2010. He is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and was recently recognized as a distinguished alumni from the University of Cincinnati.

 

 

 

Lisa Kelley, DNP, RN - Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer, Covenant Health - Morristown Hamblen Healthcare System

 

Dr. Lisa Kelley, DNP, RN, is a distinguished healthcare leader with a rich tapestry of experience spanning over two decades. Currently serving as the Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer at Covenant Health's Morristown Hamblen Healthcare System, Dr. Kelley has been instrumental in driving transformative initiatives to enhance patient care, operational efficiency, and staff development. Dr.Kelley's journey in healthcare leadership began in 2005 when she started as a Staff Nurse at St. Mary’s Jefferson Memorial Hospital. Over the years, Dr.Kelley progressed through various roles, including Staff Nurse/Charge Nurse in Med/Surg, Clinical Coordinator in Prep and Recovery, and Nurse Manager at Novant Health Charlotte Orthopaedic Hospital. Dr. Kelley's commitment to excellence and passion for quality improvement led her to assume leadership roles such as Clinical Analyst for the National Surgical Quality Improvement Project (NSQIP) Registry and system clinical practice specialist at Novant Health. Beyond her professional endeavors, Dr. Kelley is deeply involved in community service, serving on the boards of various organizations such as the Morristown Area Chamber of Commerce and HC*EXCELL. Her passion for education and community development is further evident through her involvement with high school career and technical education programs and her mentorship of numerous college students pursuing their BSN, MSN, or DNP degrees.

Chris Miller, MBA, FAB – Chief Operating Officer – Bristol Regional Medical Center

 

Chris Miller, MBA, FAB, a seasoned leader at Ballad Health, currently serves as the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Bristol Regional Medical Center. With a wealth of experience in healthcare management, Miller previously held the position of COO for Greene County operations within the system. During his tenure at Greeneville Community Hospital, Miller demonstrated adept leadership across various departments, including facilities, radiation oncology, lab, pharmacy, diagnostic imaging, environmental services, and dietary. Prior to this role, he served as an Associate Administrator at Johnson City Medical Center, where he managed similar departments, gaining invaluable experience in hospital operations.

 

In his current capacity as COO, Miller oversees the daily operations of Bristol Regional's ancillary and support services departments. He is an integral member of the hospital's executive leadership team, collaborating closely with physicians and staff to enhance patient care, quality, and overall experience. Driven by a deep sense of compassion, Miller is dedicated to shaping a bright future for Bristol Regional. He strives to deliver enduring benefits to patients, staff, and the community at large, exemplifying his unwavering commitment to excellence in healthcare.

 

Miller's exemplary leadership has been recognized through various awards, including the "Rising Stars: 50 Healthcare Leaders Under 40" by Becker's Hospital Review in 2016, the 40 Under Forty award from the Business Journal of the Tri-Cities Tennessee/Virginia in 2016, and the Healthcare Heroes award from the same publication in 2018. He was also honored with the prestigious Servant's Heart Award from Ballad Health in 2018, the highest recognition for team members within the system. Miller firmly believes that discovering one's purpose, rather than simply fulfilling a function, is essential for healthcare professionals navigating today's demanding work environment.
